This Week’s Cartoon: Olympic Memories
McDonald's being the official restaurant of the Olympics is a bit like XBox being the official study aid of the National Spelling Bee. But, of course, the biggest crime of this year's games coverage was the omission of Ray Davies from the U.S. broadcast of the closing ceremony.

The last panel, about starting by not eating at McDonalds, is worth a whole panel to itself. Heck, you could make it into a poster and sell it to doctors to post in their waiting rooms (and thereby claw back some money).
One thing that irritated me about the NBC coverage was not just the “USA! USA! Other countries don’t exist!” coverage. It was the opening ceremonies with the announcers saying of every third or fourth country’s team “And here’s another country that has never won a gold medal….” I thought that was extremely tacky.

The Olympics: people who wasted their best learning years developing trivial skills being watched by pathetic chauvinists.
